The use and operation skills of composite ceramic evaporation boat

Composite ceramic evaporation boat is a general term for evaporation vessels. According to different uses, its composition and formula are also different. It is generally made of boron nitride, titanium diboride, aluminum nitride, aluminum oxide, zirconium oxide, silicon carbide, silicon nitride, and other metal non-metal compounds. After understanding the purpose of the evaporation boat, I will introduce some aspects that need attention when using the composite ceramic evaporation boat.

  1. Avoid getting water on the surface of the composite ceramic evaporation boat, because the boron nitride in the boat can easily absorb water, and the water vaporizes and expands when heated, causing the evaporation boat to explode.

  2. When installing the composite ceramic evaporation boat, keep a certain inclination, (the end of the aluminum wire is slightly higher), which is conducive to the flow of liquid aluminum to the end of the boat. This is important for increasing the spreading area of liquid aluminum, increasing the life of the evaporation boat and improving the uniformity of the coating. The evaporation boat should be kept on a horizontal surface in the lateral direction.

  3. Avoid touching the surface of the boat tank to avoid soiling, which will reduce the wettability of the boat tank surface to liquid aluminum.

  4. The length of the clamping parts of the boat clamps at both ends of the evaporation boat should be the same, and good electrical and mechanical contact should be ensured to avoid extra heat on the boat clamps. Ensure that the temperature on both sides of the boat is the same to prevent the boat from bending. Embed the evaporation boat into the graphite sheet and the boat clamp. If the pressure is too high, it will cause the boat to crack. If you install the new boat for the first time if it is too loose or too tight, you should read the manual of the boat clip. Operators should pay great attention to the machining tolerances of the evaporation boat (the length, width and parallelism of the boat are very important.) Use graphite sheets to eliminate the gap between the boat and the boat clamp and improve their contact. There must be sufficient pressure between the two ends of the boat and the boat clamp, and at the same time, it must be ensured that the boat can expand and contract when heated. The alumina should be removed from the movable side of the clamp.
