Understanding Hexagonal Boron Nitride
Feb 09, 2022
Boron nitride is made up of nitrogen and boron atoms in the crystal, the crystal structure can be divided into: hexagonal boron nitride (HBN), dense rows of hexagonal boron nitride (WBN) and cubic boron nitride, the crystal structure of hexagonal boron nitride have similar graphite layer structure, loose, lubrication, easy absorption of moisture, light and other traits of white powder, say again so "white graphite.
Hexagonal boron nitride has the same expansion coefficient as quartz, but ten times the thermal conductivity. Also has good Chemicalbook lubricity at high temperature, is an excellent high temperature solid lubricant, has strong neutron absorption capacity, chemical stability, chemical inertia to almost all molten metals.
Hexagonal boron nitride is insoluble in cold water. When water is boiled, it hydrolyzes very slowly and produces a small amount of boric acid and ammonia. It does not react with weak acid and strong base at room temperature, and is slightly soluble in hot acid. It has considerable corrosion resistance to various inorganic acids, bases, salt solutions and organic solvents.
